What the point ?: When you use a classic fitness application like Strava or Adidas Running, you data isn't encrypted at all and accessible to anyone. The fact that you decide to who to share your data with on our competitors is an illusion of safety for you. Indeed, there is a chance that all your data will be accessible during a data leak like it already happened with Facebook/Meta. With Connected Body, your data is encrypted end to end, this means that only you can access it.
But the other companies say that they don't sell your data ?: It's true, they don't sell your data they exchange it.
Why is my fitness data important for other company ?: The interesting part is your gender, age and where you start your fitness activity. The most valuable part of your data is the starting point of your activity as it allows to know which area you live and with whom. This allows to better target you with ads as those companies can deduce your average income and interest.
Why is there no free version with ads ?: On Android and Wear OS, when you give the permission to access your location, It is given to the application. This means that the ads will have access to your location. If you don't mind that then use Strava or Adidas Running.
How is my data protected with connected body ?: The application uses AES256 encryption with a key. That key isn't accessible on internet. The cloud backup of your data is usable only with that key.
Where is my data stored ?: Your data is stored on Scaleway servers hosted in Europe. We don't want to have the data stored on GAFAM servers even if encrypted. There is only one service stored on Google Cloud for Google Payment status update.
Why building this project ?: We don't want to live on a world where big corporation decide how to use your data. Also we consider that someone that has a regular training will be less likely to use a carbon emitive transport system and will prefer using a bike or walking.
Why use Connected Body ?: Most people want to use an application because it is already a lot of people using it. But as the goal is to have your data private, it is better to go with a smaller provider as it has less chances to be a target as it doesn't affect a lot of people. Which devices do you support at the moment ?: We support Android from the version 9 and WearOS from the version 3
How to access my data ?: There is two option. On the homescreen, scroll down and tap download all. It will put all your data on your download folder as a zip. On an exercise details screen, tap the 3 dots on top and then download. It will put all the data of that exercise on your download folder
